Race. Kaniva 2.
Participants. 82 WPF flyers with 2877 birds & 13 GCHC flyers with 207 birds a total of 95 flyers and 3084 birds.
Liberation. Due to slow clearing fog at the race point, all birds were release together at 10.30am into low moving cloud cover with blue skies above. The birds formed one group as the lifted, then broking into 1 large group and 2 smaller groups. The large group cleared within 2 minutes, and the two smaller groups followed after a further minute.
Winds. At the race point there was a light SE wind of b/w 2 – 4km/hr. The birds are expected to encounter SE winds for most of the journey home increasing to b/w 10 – 15km/hr around Ballarat.
Temperature. 9.2 deg at the race point on liberation.
