What a race! The skies over Kaniva were alive with energy as 2913 birds from across the federation launched into action for the 2nd Kaniva event. But it was the Vella Family from Deer Park who delivered a masterclass in speed and preparation, clocking a blistering 1347.099 m/min and earning $226.35—the fastest bird on the truck and a clear standout in the West section [1].

Their performance didn’t just win the section—it set the benchmark for what’s possible. Rennie showed exactly what could be done when everything clicks. This race proved that every flier had a winning chance if their birds were on form. Well done, Rennie for setting the standard in the West!

🌤️ Liberation Conditions – Kaniva, 2nd August 2025

Birds were released at 9:20am into low moving cloud cover (60–70%), with blue skies breaking through above. The liberation was smooth and unified, with all birds spiralling up and clearing the site within 2 minutes. Winds were westerly, ranging from 25–30 km/h at ground level, and expected to remain steady up to 600m altitude. The temperature at liberation was a crisp 10°C, ideal for a fast-paced race.
