Soaring high, touching the sky, united in flight, reaching new heights!

We are thrilled to announce the exhilarating results of the Rupanyup 3 race held on 12.07.2025.

Winner: Michael Portelli
Michael not only clinched the top spot in the Western Pigeon Federation but also had the best bird on the truck. His team was unstoppable, with over three birds vying for the Fed win. Congratulations, Michael!

Runner-Up: Erwin Beaumgardt (Sunshine Club)
Erwin’s performance was nothing short of spectacular. Securing second Fed only 42 seconds behind Michael with just 16 birds, he surely knows how to pick a winner from such a small team. Well done, Erwin!

Special Mentions:

  • The Frost Family from Melton delivered another impressive result this week. Kudos to them!
  • Pierre’s efforts in the north were commendable, securing fourth Fed position and ensuring all birds returned safely. Great job, Pierre!

Liberation: Due to low visibility caused by slow-clearing fog, the WPF, GCHC, and VRPU birds took to the skies together. They rose above the fog into clear blue heavens, creating a beautiful image of unity and freedom. A big thank you to our liberators for their patience and to our drivers and convoys for positioning the camera perfectly. The footage captured the essence of the race beautifully, showcasing the birds’ determination and the breathtaking sight of them soaring through the skies.

Weather Conditions:

  • Winds: North-westerly at 5-10 km/hr at ground level, increasing to 20-30 km/hr west/north-west at 600m.
  • Temperature: 12°C at the race point during liberation.

It was a fantastic turnout with great reports of returns all around. Congratulations to all participants and a special thanks to everyone who made this event a success!
