3rd Mt. Hope

In todays’ race from Mt. Hope, 28/09/2013,  the WPF,  VRPU, GMPF and Geelong Federations released app.2700 pigeons at 7am.  Conditions at the race point were clear and sunny with app 15km p/h Westerly winds.  Upon release the birds broke into three separate groups leaving all together within five minutes.

For the trip home the birds are expected to encounter Westerly winds of between 25-45 km p/h most of the way home.  In the afternoon closer to Melbourne, the Westerly winds are predicted to ease to 15-20km p/h.  Top temperature expected in Melbourne today is 16 degrees.

Remember production of clocks is within an hour and a half of clocking.

WE HAVE OUR WINNER!!!!!!!  CONGRATULATIONS GO TO MR. BARNEY MIZZI WHO CLOCKED A YEARLING BLUE BAR HEN AT 3.59 TODAY AND WON FIRST PLACE IN OUR 2013 BREEDERS PLATE RACE!!!!  WITH A VELOCITY OF 1166.92 m.p.m. BARNEY LEFT THE REST OF THE COMPETITION IN HIS WAKE,  WINNING BY ALMOST 50 m.p.m. , AFTER A FLYING TIME OF 8.44.30,  25 MINUTES IN FRONT OF MICHAEL PORTELLI WHO TOOK OUT SECOND PLACE.  THIRD PLACE WENT TO E. BONNICI .  BARNEY AND MICHAEL ARE BOTH WPF FLYERS AND EDDIE BONNICI FLIES WITH THE VPO.  THIS YEARS RACE WAS A TOUGH ONE WITH 648 PIGEONS  RELEASED  AND AT 8PM ON RACE NIGHT THERE WERE ONLY 36 PIGEONS CLOCKED IN. A FANTASTIC EFFORT BY ALL THOSE BIRDS.

THE BOARD OF MANAGEMENT WOULD LIKE TO CONGRATULATE THE WINNERS AND THANK EVERYONE WHO PARTICIPATED IN THIS YEARS RACE AND HELPED MAKE IT A SUCCESS.

BREEDERS PLATE RACE RESULTS

Mt. Hope Hilary Ashley Produce

In todays’ race from Mt, Hope, 21/09/2013, 790 WPF birds along with 249 Geelong,  app.1000 GMPF and app. 850 VRPU birds were released at 7.30 am.  Conditions at the race point were clear and sunny with no wind.  Once released the birds left the race point in one group within two minutes.

For the trip home the birds are expected to encounter light winds, with light cloud all the way back home to Melbourne. Once in Melbourne winds are expected to shift to North to North Westerly of 10 to 20 kn p/h.  Top temperature expected in Victoria today is 21 degrees.

Remember production of clocks is within one and a half hours of clocking.

Mt. Hope

In todays’ race from Mt. Hope, 14/09/2013, 1175 WPF birds, 293 Geelong birds and app. 2000 VRPU and GMPF birds for a total of app. 3300 birds were released at 7.15 am.  Conditions at the race point were clear and sunny with little to no wind. ‘ Once released the birds left the race point in one group within three minutes.

For the trip home the birds are expected to encounter light variable winds all the way through to Melbourne.  Top temperature expected in Victoria today is 18 degrees.

Coombah Breeders Plate

In todays’ Breeders Plate race from Coombah, 648 birds were released at 7.15 am.  Conditions at the race point were clear with light cloud cover and no wind.  Upon release the birds all left the race point in one group within two minutes.

For the trip home the birds are expected to encounter East to South Easterly winds of 15- 25 km p/h becoming light throughout the day. Maximum temperature expected today in Victoria is 17 degrees.

PLEASE NOTE:  PRODUCTION OF CLOCKS IS AT 8 PM AT THE WPF ROOMS, CARRINGTON DRIVE, SUNSHINE ONLY.  PLEASE REMEMBER THAT YOUR FIRST CLOCK PIGEON MUST BE PRODUCED ALONG WITH YOUR CLOCK,  TO BE VERIFIED ON THE NIGHT.

Mossgiel

Todays’ scheduled race from Hillston has been moved to Mossgiel, 92 kms West of Hillston and app. 510 kms to Melbourne, to avoid the Cumberland (Sydney) Federations liberation.

In todays’ race from Mossgiel 07/09/2013, 1047 WPF birds competing from 55 lofts,  and 343 Geelong birds were released at 8am.  Conditions at the race point were clear and sunny with a light Southerly wind.  Once released the birds left the race point within 2 mins in one group. For the trip home the birds are expected to encounter light cloud with West to SouthWesterly winds of between 15-20 km p/h.  Top temperature expected in Melbourne today is 18 degrees.
