Barrigun

In todays’ race from Barrigun 09/11/2013, 537 WPF birds along with 131 Geelong, app. 250 GMPF and app. 400 VRPU birds were released at 6.45 am.  Conditions at the race point were sunny with some cloud cover with a light Southerly wind.  Upon release the majority of the birds left within 6 minutes with a small group of app. 40 birds leaving after 20 minutes.

For the long trip home, the birds are expected to encounter South to South Westerly winds of between 15-35 km p/h all the way through to Victoria, with isolated showers along the way.  Top temperature expected in NSW today is between 25-30 degrees and in Victoria 16 degrees.

Don’t forget production of clocks if clocking today is 8 pm or if clocking on Sunday, 7 pm Sunday night.

Bourke

In todays’ race from Bourke 26/10/2013, 761 WPF birds along with 179 Geelong, 649  VRPU, 674  GMPF and 250 Gippsland birds, (a total of 2513 birds)  were released at 7 am.  Conditions at the race point were clear and sunny with no wind.  Upon release approx 2000 birds left the race point within four minutes. Approximately 350 birds left after ten minutes leaving 30-40 birds still circling the truck after 10 minutes.

For the long trip home the birds are expected to encounter light South Easterly winds shifting to South Westerly and increasing to 15-20 km p/h in the early afternoon.  Top temperature expected in NSW today is 28 degrees and in Victoria 18 degrees.

Don’t forget production of clocks if clocking today is at 8 pm or if the birds do not arrive until tomorrow, clock production is at 7 pm on Sunday night.

3rd Cobar

In todays’ race from Cobar 19/10/2013, app 1900 WPF, Geelong, VRPU and GMPF birds were released at 7.15 am.  Conditions at the race point were clear and sunny with a 10-15 km p/h North Easterly wind.  Upon release the birds left the race point in one group within three minutes, with app. 150 birds returning to the race point then leaving after a further 15 minutes.

For the trip  home the birds are expected to encounter North Easterly winds of 15 to 20 km p/h shifting to Northerly and increasing to 20 to 30 km p/h winds once they cross the border.  Top temperature expected in Victoria today is 28 degrees.

Tasmania

In todays’ race from Tasmania 12/10/2013, 477 WPF birds competing from 46 lofts along with app. 1600 VRPU, GMPF, Geelong and VHA birds were released at 7.45 am.  Conditions at the race point were overcast with light winds.  Upon release the birds left the race point in one group within three minutes.

For the trip home the birds are expected to encounter North Westerly winds of 20 to 25 knots easing to 15 to 20 knots as they reach the Victorian coast line.  Top temperature expected in Victoria today is 26 degrees.

Don’t forget production of clocks is at 8 pm.

Cobar National

In todays’ race from Cobar, 12/10/2013, 441 WPF birds, competing from 50 lofts along with app. 2200 VRPU, GMPF, VHA AND VPO BIRDS were released at 7.30am.  Conditions at the race point were clear and sunny with no wind.  Upon release the birds left the race point in one group within two minutes.

For the trip home birds are expected to encounter North Easterly winds of 15 to 20 km p/h early in the day, shifting to North Westerly increasing to 20 to 30 km p/h in the middle of the day, then easing early afternoon.  Top temperature expected in Victoria today is 26 degrees.

Cobar

In todays’ race from Cobar 05/10/2013, 919 WPF birds competing from 52 lofts along with 919 Geelong , 825 VRPU & app. 800 GMPF  birds, for a total of 2736 birds were released at 6.45 am.   Conditions at the race point were clear and sunny with little to no wind.  Upon release the birds left the race point as one group in two minutes.

For the trip home the birds are expected to encounter North to North Westerly winds of 15-30 km p/h, with winds easing and shifting South Westerly later in the day.  Top temperature expected in Victoria today is 25 degrees.

**IMPORTANT, PLEASE NOTE**

As we are now racing from 400 miles, two birds may be clocked and production of clocks is now at 8 pm.

3rd Mt. Hope

In todays’ race from Mt. Hope, 28/09/2013,  the WPF,  VRPU, GMPF and Geelong Federations released app.2700 pigeons at 7am.  Conditions at the race point were clear and sunny with app 15km p/h Westerly winds.  Upon release the birds broke into three separate groups leaving all together within five minutes.

For the trip home the birds are expected to encounter Westerly winds of between 25-45 km p/h most of the way home.  In the afternoon closer to Melbourne, the Westerly winds are predicted to ease to 15-20km p/h.  Top temperature expected in Melbourne today is 16 degrees.

Remember production of clocks is within an hour and a half of clocking.
